Default Late 31 carb

I have a 29 coupe with a late 31 carb on it. The gas line goes directly into the carb with no side bowl filter. I do have the glass sediment bowl on the firewall.
This was the setup on the car when I bought it in 1959.
Is there any advantage or disadvantage to this set up? Thx

None that I can think of. The value of the side-bowl may be greater and could possibly be enough to offset some, -or all of the cost of having the correct carburetor on it.

If it’s all running well and you don’t care leave it alone.
Seems like since 1959 you’d be the guru on your own question

Don’t fix it till it’s broke!!

Agree with Bill and Brent. Even though late 31 Carbs bring more as they should it seems as though there are more out there than cars that need them. The original sidebowl with carb brings the premium. If it’s running well to your liking I’d leave it there and leave it alone. Even if you are trying to make your car “correct “ in all likelihood there is much more than just the carb that may not be correct.
Drive it and enjoy it like it is.
Happy Model A motoring !

You are right about more things that are not correct! It has a 31 steering wheel and column, and 30 or 31 hood latches. When I bought it at 16 in 1959 it had a tin roof in place of the fabric and 16 inch solid rims. I knew the wheels were not correct but had no idea about the roof or steering wheel and carb. The only history I had was the kid I bought it from had rebuilt the engine in high school shop. He did a great job since in 1961 a buddy and I drove it from LA to Grand Rapids, Mich and back with very little problem. It now has correct roof and wheels. Fun to drive the grandkids in it!! And the engine has been rebuilt again.
