Back on the Road
I purchased a rebuilt carburetor last year. For a little background I am ashamed to say that my roadster had been over 5 years without any road time. I moved to the side of a steep mountain and the brakes were not sufficient, so I worked on them off and on. I put on the carb and tried to run the car but got bad back fire and just would not run right.
I finally decided to dig into it and get back to driving. Here is what I found on the rebuild. IMG_1948.jpg The needle valve/choke was bent like it had been dropped. I noticed when I installed it, but the connection from the choke rod seemed to match up OK so I ignored it. I tried to close the needle valve and it just continued to turn. Here is what had happened. IMG_1949.jpg No issues with the company I bought it from. Who knows when it got damaged, and after replacing with an old needle valve, I took it for a shakedown and it drives like a dream. I will order a new valve. Man how can someone go 5 years without driving their A. I am ashamed! I am also just retired and things are about to change! |

Re: Back on the Road
Looks like typical shipping damage.
Most of those gorillas could turn a rock into a box of sand by the time you receive it. |
