Speaking of hinge pins
Does any one have any special tricks for removing balky door hinge pins? Tried punch and hammer, no movement, ideas!!

Most people end up drilling them out. Try doing a search, lots of diff methods.

I once drilled a short depth (just enough for an "easy-out" tap) into the top of a hinge pin. I used penetrating oil as I drilled with the tap ( reverse spin) and pushed downward. The old hinge began to twist and break up the corrosion. I then used a hammer and punch to finish the job. The hinge and bracket of the car were then drilled to resize the diameter.
Try something easier if you can, I wanted to save the old hinge and bracket without using new parts. |
