Re: Manifold torque model a ford
None from the factory but I think about 35 Ft# is best. If that doesn't work you have something else wrong.

Re: Manifold torque model a ford
35 ft lbs has worked for me, but be sure to-torque a couple of times after you have done some miles. I recheck mine when the engine cools done.

Re: Manifold torque model a ford
I do as #3 & #7 said and torque to 35 lbs. I believe many use 50 lbs. or so since the nuts/studs are similar to the head nuts/studs. Manifolds don't have compression working against them like the head so don't require the same torque. The key is to torque in steps working first from the center two to the outer two nuts. That way you don't trap even a slightly warped manifold or the block not being true resulting in a broken manifold.

Re: Manifold torque model a ford
I've never used a torque wrench on the manifold, center out. If it leaks torque it down more, you're not going too loose engine coolant like a head. Make sure the washers go on correctly!

Les Andrews says to use 45 Ft# and I have been using that for years. Page 1-134. Manifold nuts.

Which way do the nuts go? Concave side towards engine?

Re: Manifold torque model a ford
The washers edges need to touch the manifolds and bow out to the nuts, likening to a spring spring washer, but not. The convex out helps keep pressure on the manifolds. Hope this helps, very wordy it would be easier to install for you.

Re: Manifold torque model a ford
It took a while but I finally got my answer. Which way does the manifold washer go ? CONCAVE towards the engine. CONVEX out. And that make sense to me and also the way I reassembled the unit. Thank you
