Parade
My granddaughter and I threw candy from my coupe in a very small home-town parade.

Re: Parade
Art,
That's a great parade. Love the truck and especially the MG TF. You live in the perfect area for a Model A. Do you use the "Brody" knob much? David Serrano |

Re: Parade
Why did you THROW away candy? Was it EXPIRED?
What a BEAUTIFUL place for a parade, looks like you're next to the WOODS! Bill W.

Re: Parade
The steering knob was on the car when I bought it, looks like it has been on there a long time. Besides it has a hot babe in a Bikini in it! I really don't use it to turn the car, but it's nice if you are hanging your elbow out the window. You can hang on to the knob and with slight movements guide it straight down the road.

BTW, the Chevy pickup is an ex-forestry rig... 44K original miles. It's 216 has never been open!

Re: Parade
We did the 4th of July parade. Spectators abd candy grabbers out numbered the old cars. Polititions with their fancy floats and new trucks put a damper on the festivities. I don't like "vote for me" cards trashing up my car!

Re: Parade
This was so cool because it was so small! My coupe will start to get hot if it sets idling too long. A little tiny town with great people. Mostly did it for the grand-daughter anyway.

Re: Parade
We do the Memorial Day parade here most years (oldest Memorial Day parade in the country), but in the Jeep with the WWII living history group. Always get the weirdest looks from the kids when they see folks in helmets throwing out candy...

Re: Parade
Nice video looked like a good time!
That takes a lot of self restraint, on the part of your little grand daughter, to be the tosser and not the tosee!!! Hard to pass up parade candy when you are little Hope you made it right with her and gave her a big Hershey's bar and/or a stop for ice cream!! She was having as much fun as Granddad!! |

Re: Parade
The first parade I ever drove in was the Anoka Halloween Parade, when I drove my friend's 1930 Sport Coupe. His car had ignition problems just as the parade started, so it did a lot of backfiring. With each loud explosion the people would jump and scream. Half way through the parade it finally died and had to be pushed to the side.
Anoka is known as the Halloween Capitol of the World, and the parade lasts for hours. This year for the first time, there will be no candy allowed. That sure sucks, and I can see a big downturn in attendance coming. |

Re: Parade
Banning candy from parades, stupid. I see a lot of parents who just let their kids run into the street to pick up candy and they say nothing. So we have to blame them. That and the little rascals are faster than I am these days, so I have to push them down to get my share. No not really--------
At a local parade this summer, they had told the parade participants to not throw candy from the vehicles, that you had to have someone walking alongside giving out candy. The local cop car was the first in the parade behind the Legionnaires' Color Guard, and he was busy throwing candy to the kids............ out of the window of his car |

Re: Parade
Great video !!! . Big smile on my face as I watched it . My only (up to now but I am ever hopefull) grandaughter is 15 months old so not ready yet for tossing candy . Nice driver ,nice grandaughter and nice coupe ,love that green colour . My sons 31 coupe is called Penny as it had come from Lincoln Nebraska originally . The heroine in "The Big Bang Theory" is called Penny and also from Nebraska so it seemed a fitting name .
