Early V8 Parts
I would like to hear some suggestions for buying parts. Usually used Mac's but hate their new numbering system since they were bought by Eklers. I like to work with original parts books but it takes forever to convert from Ford numbers to their numbers and theirs to Ford, and no way to look someplace else without cross referencing the numbers. TAKES TWICE AS LONG! Who has the best selection and covers most of what we need. I have Early Fords from 1928 to 1950. Right now working on 1941 Woodie and 1934 Brewsters. Thanks, Don

Re: Early V8 Parts
Not a supporter of MAC, but I have been able to search original part numbers very easily on their site. I look the part numbers up in the green book then enter them in on the MAC web page.

Re: Early V8 Parts
I always use C&G. Even though I'm in PA and they're in CA I get very fast deliveries - without premium. They know what they are doing and are happy to have your business!

Re: Early V8 Parts
C&G is our choice because their stock is very complete, shipping is rapid, backorders are few, and they actually know about old Fords! Phone 800-266-0470, web site www.cgfordparts.com

Re: Early V8 Parts
In the back of Mac's latest V8 catalog there is a cross index of Ford to mac's part numbers.

I had about given up on Mac's due to having to pay a premium to get decent delivery, and having parts constantly back ordered.I just gave them another try and it seems that they have cleaned up the act.The phone salesman was knowledgeable and no attempt was extort extra money for fast delivery. The parts arrived in 2 days.( not bad for Mac's). |

Re: Early V8 Parts
I think that mother FORD gets angry when companies use their part numbers. They are copyrited.

Re: Early V8 Parts
Boy! Isn't that a shame? Maybe we should all be working on chevys. They sure do get a lot of exposure by us when we drive our great old fords to events. What better advertising?

Re: Early V8 Parts
I am still old fashioned and like to use the PAPER BOOK method. Make a long list as I am working and then call in the order. Guess I am being forced to modernize.
