Radial tires for 50 Two door
I have been told that some Ford Bronco wheels work well for this. What year
Bronco have these wheels and is the rim width and other specs the same as the 50? Thanks |

Re: Radial tires for 50 Two door
I can't answer about the Bronco wheels, but I put radials on my '50 Fordor and they made a world of difference. I just tried some old tires I had on the stock wheels..... Mark

Re: Radial tires for 50 Two door
There is no reason to get new wheels. 205/75R15 would be a radial replacement to fit original wheels.

Re: Radial tires for 50 Two door
Yes,there is a good reason to use replacement wheels. This car is a Crestliner and has full cover hubcaps. The use of original wheels with radial tires will not keep the caps on.
The wheels will flex enough so that caps will not stay on. I have seen this myself. Wheels designed for radial tires are designed a little different so that the caps stay on. If you loose one of these caps you are looking at big bucks. |

Re: Radial tires for 50 Two door
66-77 ford bronco had the 5 1/2" bolt pattern, ford pickups went into the early to mid 80's with that bolt pattern

Re: Radial tires for 50 Two door
I have a '57 T-Bird, have owed the car since '73. I put radial tires on the stock 14" wheels when I bought the car. The hub caps are the original Bird caps, I have never had a problem with hub caps coming off in over 70K of city/highway driving..
The Ford F100/150s have 5 on 5.5" bolt patterns, with various rim widths up to '96, after '96 Ford went to a metric bolt pattern which will not fit the earlier cars or trucks.

Re: Radial tires for 50 Two door
I have a 56 Bird with radials, stock wheels and stock full hubcaps. Never had a problem with the hubcaps coming off. Have made two coast to coast trips that way.

Re: Radial tires for 50 Two door
I'm running 80's Bronco rims on my '41 with 205/75R/15's. Unfortunately the rims are not made any more, at least is what I'm told by my local wheel shop.Last one I bought came from Calif. as only one they could find. about 6 yrs ago.

Re: Radial tires for 50 Two door
The Bronco's up through '95 are all a version of the F100/150 platform, therefore, any '64/95 15" wheel will fit them, The rim width will vary from 5.5" to 6.5". The '65 and later wheels have outside hubcap knobs, whereas the earlier wheels have the knobs inside of the hub.
The smaller Bronco II is a whole different breed of cats. I have never had much trouble finding the F100/150 wheels in the wrecking yards, you just have to know what you are looking for, being smarter that the counterman..

Re: Radial tires for 50 Two door
The F-100/150 wheels have a 5 1/2 inch bolt pattern?? 1950 Fords had a 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern
