Got my 30 Coupe back
I sold my 30 coupe a year ago but the guy was not a Model A guy and wanted my 54 Chevy pickup so we did some trading. I finished the build on this coupe. It had been setting in a dry barn lacking the Lebaron Bonney inteior being installed and a lot of other small stuff. The car had been totally rebuilt about 20 years ago, engine, trans and rear end and brakes. I had to install a set of brand new Houdaille stock shocks on it. The body and fenders are near perfect, never rusted or dented up. Doors close like a new Model A would. I'm just trying to decide what to do with it. If I keep it I won't drive it much, if I sell it, it won't bring what it should, if I hot rod it then it will be worth about twice the stock price and would drive well. (already have a aftermarket chassis worth about 7000). Just trying to sell a 50 Stude starlight coupe and a 30 Phaeton replica and then decide what to do. I like the car but just don't like driving a stock A.

Re: Got my 30 Coupe back
In my opinion, no matter what you do, you will never get the money back out, even if you hot rod it. I also believe that too many stock A's are made into hod rods. If it was me, I would sell the car, sell the frame, and use the money to buy a rod that you like that is 95% done. Unless you just like working on cars and then keep the frame and buy an engine, running gear, and body of your liking.

Re: Got my 30 Coupe back
I agree with nk. why destroy yet another A coupe? they are everywhere in various stages of good intention.
put it up for auction-ebay- and move on. I started selling some of my "projects" 10 days ago on ebay. I have 20 cars here and Ill never get to them all. reality sometimes wakes us up! Im pretty sure Ild enjoy a few nice drivers, then a ton of projects that Im just not getting to. Fortunately, I should have a few years to complete some of them. I want to wrench less and drive more......... |

Re: Got my 30 Coupe back
What is it you don't like driving a stock Model A?
Another option for not much money compared to a full blown Hot Rod conversion..........a little hop up on the engine/trans/rearend.......hi comp head, downdraft carb, T5 trans conversion, high speed rear end gearing. Just a thought. |
