1938 Wiper motor speed adjsutment
Have vaccum wiper still fitted to 38 PU. There is a lever for speed adjustment which screwed in or full out does not appear to alter the speed.
Probably requires service. But can you please enlighten me. Out adjustment for slower speed? In adjustment for faster speed? Obviously vents off vaccum in some way for speed adjustment. Thanks for your assistance. Phil NZ |

Are there rebuild kits available for vacuum wipers? The ones on my 44 truck are not working

It adjusts from dead stop to very fast and everything in between. A rebuilt will amaze you.

The wiper can be rebuilt (I like Kents work also) the regulator is a different story. It is crimped together non serviceable. As long as the regulator does not leak vacuum (effecting engine performance) and it allows the wiper to work, this is about all you can ask after so many years.

One that I used on my 36 was pull. Had it rebuilt by Fricken (sp?). It worked great. 16 inches of vaccuum on a sbc with an RV cam.

If your wiper motor has a Leather interior wiper you can spray WD40 into the vacuum inlet--wait over night and shake excess out & wow like a rebuild! Mine was stuck -- worked for me.
