Default Fancy a ride? Join me for the maiden run in my survivor 41pu.

Ok, I say survivor. At least it was not a bare shell when I bought it. More of a fixer-upper. This isn't the one I was doing up as a project a few years ago. It's another one. I bought this last September, so it's been roughly six month's work to get 'er up and running and drivable. I'm just back from the second maiden run, which went relatively well. I'm feeling pretty chuffed. early days yet, and lots of teething issues to sort out, but it does drive nicely. I've done nothing to the body, it's a bit rough, or "patinated" if you prefer. All the work has been getting a decent set of running gear in it and making sure everything mechanical is tip top. and wiring. I wired it from stem to stern from scratch. Anyway, two runs out on the road, first time ran out of fuel but got back safe, conked on the drive. Second run, went ok, still conked on the drive. Have charging issues. New regulator on it's way.

I'm feeling pretty chuffed and wanted to share.

First a pic. It needs a wash and the hubcaps and trim rings fitting but what is most important it that it is in the car park of the supermarket up the road instead of in my garage.

I finally managed to stitch these video clips together and have posted the link to the new, combined video below. So, in the best Mart Shake-O-Vision, join me for the genuine maiden run in the pickup. If you're prone to sea-sickness the camera work may not be to your liking!

Still plenty to do, but now it's down to de-bugging and fixing issues one by one.

Cheers!

Mart.

EDIT!: If you may have missed it here's a link to the second road test with better camera work.

Hey Mart!! I liked it a lot. Thanks for posting that.

Where did you find this truck and had it been sitting for long?

The 'pox' on you should you decide to put whitewalls on it. Double the pox if you restore it to original. Patina rules...

I was ready to get on plane and go for a ride, but I see it's loaded on YouTube, saved me a little money by riding virtually, great job Mart.
One of these days, I will get to visit England.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it.

Heard: I bought it six months ago off the guy that imported it. It has Cal plates with a 2002 date sticker, but who knows? I doubt it it was run then. Everything was extremely worn out, especially things like shackles.

Ralph: You asked about the beeping: it's the direction indicators. I like to have a beeper because it's so easy to leave them on otherwise. (I have deleted the clip where you asked the question)

Sunshine: The gauge is not hooked up. That's just one of the things on the list.

Guys, I managed to combine the 4 video clips into one.. Here's a link:

Thanks for the positive comments.

Mart.

That was good. I left a comment and a "like". That clutch noise is a little concerning but it seems to work. I'd be lost on all those roundabouts with my old Merc and no signal lights.
