Default Gear box replacement/modern alternative

Hi guys, Can anyone advise me on a modern replacement gearbox for my 29 A speedster. Currently I get arount 98mph using a high speed diff and three speed box but I think if if change to a 4 or 5 speed box i can improve. Also it will make cruising easier on the revs.

Thank you in advance.

Although my A will never hit 98 Miles Per hour I find absolutely no fault with Henry's transmission. If you want higher gearing why not install a Mitchell Gear Spliter or a quick change rear end? I get more speed out of mine by simply using 750x16 tires on the rear. :-)

Hello, the problem is when changing down at high revs, hill trials the gearing is wrong. But thank you for your input.

If you do some searching, you will also find info on installing the Ford F-150 4-speed all syncro 4th-overdrive tranny in a Model A. There are kits available.

If you drive 98mph in a Model A, I don't think you are long for this world.

Some folks used to mate early '60's Peugeot 403 ? trannies to A's; I like the Ford F150 pickup setup.
The photo looks like a Bentley from the period !

Look for a Liberty or Doug Nash 5-speed. Basically it is a clutchless transmission during shifting.
