"Bump" and "bttt" (back to the top) are entries guys make in replies to existing threads that bring that thread back up to the top of the forum.

I had the same question. There is a lot of people here that came from the early or mid
20 century, back then in school we had to spell things out..........

To flesh it out just a little, when you reply to someones thread, or your own, it moves to the top of the list of threads. It gets "bumped" back to the top. When someone replied with "bump" or "bttt" they are replying with the sole purpose of bumping the thread to the top.

This is often seen in ads where the car is still for sale and the seller wants to bump his ad up again. there are rules on most forums as to how often you are allowed to do that. On the hamb, for instance, you aren't even allowed to reply to ads at all.

If anyone wants to know the meaning of a specific shorthand phrase that is being used just ask. (By pm if preferable)

(Dear Mart what does "pm" mean??)....personal message.

Mart.

bump can have different meanings depending on how and where it is used. For instance, if on the highway during commute traffic, it means something altogether different than if on the dance floor with a pretty girl. On a forum like this, anything you post is a bump, even including drivel like this.

Hi Everyone, In my mind I rationalized btt to be 'bump the thread.' No idea if that's accurate.
