Default 31 Top Installation

Four gentlemen from the local Modal A Restorer Club came by yesterday to help me install to top on my 31 SW Model A. It was a herculean task.
One step closer! YEA!

There is no additional painting under the molding. The metal was primed prior to installing the roof. When I apply the final paint I am going to leave a minimalism gap from the masking tape to all just a small amount of paint to seep in and seal the very bottom where the molding contacts the metal. I then will apply a very small silicone bead, very small.

Silicone is said to be a real no-no. If your method is your plan I would recommend a product called Big Stretch instead.

Yes, a good windshield installer from Canada told me years ago that silicone next to metal promotes rust. Then I realized why so many windshields in junk yards had so much rust around the edge where silicone had been applied.

Use windshield urethane or a similar product.
