Default Das Awkscht Fescht Pictures (Macungie PA)

This is always a good show. Usually hot, but it was a nice day on Saturday. There was a good turn out of old Fords. For some reason, this was the year a big group of '37s were showing.

Let's start with the flea market. This 3 window needed a little work.

Great weather, great show but standing in line to buy tickets in order to buy food was a really bad idea What were they thinking? I'll bring lunch next year.
Thanks for posting the pics!

A lot of places do that now in order to have better security over the handling of cash. Keep it all in one spot instead of having security risks all over the event.

I'm bringing my own food next year too. I hated having to wait in the extra line just for tickets. People were complaining about that all day.

Show seemed a bit light on V8 Fords...only saw a few, and no '32's out there. There was a nice coupe in the fleamarket that had apparently just been sold...wonder what it brought??
This is one of the few fleamarkets where there always some early V8 parts, with '32 parts prices remaining at SCARY.
Food ticket problems were seemingly amplified by incompetent execution...the line for the main ticket booth, where they had only to hand over tickets from easy-to-count fourXfive sheets, was slower than similar lines to the booths were food was being cooked...I would bet that the shambles drastically lowered the take for food vendors.
Did they not notice that cash transactions used to be fast? And security...the food operations are like three people working at frantic speed in a space the size of my desk. Who in hell is going to get away with anything in there? I suspect they are all family operations, too.
Though I had fun all day, and brought home a few goodies from the fleas, I realize now that I am still annoyed by having a quick, enjoyable lunch turned into a lengthy shambles...
I gave my last two tickets left to some poor devil who was a ticket short after surviving at least long lines.

Bruce:

Believe it or not, my 3 year old wanted to go to the show. We were on vacation last week dodging sharks at the Jersey shore and he woke up on Sunday saying he wanted to go to a car show. How could I turn that down?

Got to Magungie and they walked around for about 2 hours (not bad since it got quite hot by the time we got there). They enjoyed some Smitty's fries and listen to the band. Not too many vendors left and my boys weren't really weren't into the cars that were there on Sunday.

I agree with you about the food vendors. Not sure why they went to the ticket system, but I do ask them to think about some more for next year. It was certainly a hassle trying to figure out how many tickets you need to get for the food vendor you just pasted.

Cash was certain easier on the spectator who paid $7 to get in the show in the first place.

This is always a great event...it is one of the few in which older stuff predominates in both the show and the fleamarket over the endless rows of Mustangs and GTO's that fill many events. Warmup to Hershey!!

Security may be the reason but I think it's about selling tickets that never get used and the money is the pocket of the promoter. The tickets could be used at later events but it's a reasonable bet that alot of folks will never use those tickets and the vendors who are forced to take them and the spectators who are forced to buy them are the losers.

40LUV, Thanks for posting the pictures. Wish I could have made the show. Maybe next year. Like Cecil said, I thought I saw some cars that I recognized as well. JM
