Default drag link

The Model A drag link has a long end and a short end. It is installed with the long end attached to the pitman arm on my Victoria. However, it can be reversed. No one I have spoken with knows which is correct. I have searched for documentation showing which is correct. Can anyone point me to a considered official document that describes the correct orientation?

At some point in the Model A era, the Ford Service Bulletins contained a directive to reverse the positioning of the drag link, with no explanation as to why. I recall that it was to move the long end to the steering arm end. I don't have a copy of the Ford book available, but it is in there.
