Help with Tool/Machine ID
Anyone have an idea what this is, what it does, how it works and is an operators manual available? I have two of them, but only one has a bulb.

Re: Help with Tool/Machine ID
That is a capacitor (condenser) tester. Used to test capacitance in microfarads. Electrolytic capacitors can be tested for leakage at different voltage levels. The "bulb" is actually a vacuum tube called an "eye tube". As you rotate the main tuning dial the eye tube glows green and opens and closes like an eye lid. When the the eye is fully closed you read the dial for the corresponding capacitance value of the tested component. Sprague is the Cadillac of testers, some still in use today. I test auto condensers with them, as well as electronics.

Re: Help with Tool/Machine ID
Thanks. Is there anywhere that I might be able to find an instruction manual? Since I have two of them, I would think I should be able to get one working without much effort.
