Default Could be a scammer,

I have had a reply for a part which I advertised in a Vintage Car Magazine sometime ago, and the magazine has been seen in U.K.
I have had a reply from a Doug Wescott, 90 Sandgate, Blackpool,
Lacashire, FY42LP U.K.
Anybody know of him.
I Think this guy is a scammer so I am not going to answer his email.

There are honest folks in the UK. I have sold stuff to folks in the UK. They pay by Western Union. I don't send the part until I have the money in my hand from WU. You could also go to the WU folks and ask their advice.

Or use PayPal. You get protection (buyer and seller) if the deal is bad. It does take about 30 days if you need to use the user/seller protection but i have had good luck with the process.

That address is a windscreen replacement company. They are part of a chain called 'Mr Chip'. It is the other end of the country to me but you could ring the company through their website.
I would be suspicious.

Thanks for the information, I placed the advertisment in the N.Z Vintage car magazine and I know some people do subscribe to it in U.K., for a rare 1932 Ford part and this Doug Wescott who I received the email from remarks he has this part and several other 1932 parts for Fords which made me a bit suspicious.
Several years ago I advertised, wanted to buy a 1932 R.H.D instruction manual in this particular magazine and scammer answered my advertisment. So I just watch my step now.

I would answer his email with a request for a picture but tell him to put a penny (or something else you specify) next to the part so you can tell the size (this keeps him from using a stolen picture), You will probably not hear back from him.

There is a Mr Chip windscreen repair business registered at that address. I seriously doubt that Mr Chip is the scammer, someone is cloning his address to add credence to the scam.
The address is irrelevant, it's more than likely a scam. You could call Mr Chip and ask for Doug.

By the way, Early Ford parts come from America, not the UK. Anyone with early fords in the UK tends to be "known".

Mart.

Tell him you have a friend who lives nearby who will call on him to verify the part.
Don't be surprised if you don't hear from him again.

You can always tell him you have a drunken, nasty, big uncle who lives close by and you would like to have him come by, meet him and take a look. Actually, the post about the penny is genious!...slim

I got an email from a woman on Tues. asking for my phone #, address and what credit cards I acccept so she could have a car towed to my shop for a brake job while she is out of the country. She said the tow truck was standing by, awaiting delivery. But, the car is in Texas and my shop is in WV. Wouldn't that be an expensive brake job???
