Hershey 2019 Hotels...going, going...
I know this was touched on before, but I couldn't find the thread to add too.
Yesterday I was talking with a guy I roomed with last year about arrangements. I am one of those guys that just automatically books a cancelable room for the following Hershey right after I get back. I am in the Courtyard for Tuesday through Saturday in a base 2 queen room for $225 a night (with tax). He was asking about the lodge, because it is on the shuttle route. So I started looking Hershey Lodge was $199 for Tuesday then $399 for the rest. I looked to see if Courtyard had changed. It had, same room was now $309 with tax. A couple of the hotels are already booked up. I know a lot sleep at their spots, but my friend is no longer able to do that. Anyway. If you are planning on a hotel, get in now!

Got mine already. Tried to do it when I checked out last year, the way I always did. Now they won't hold on credit card, they want to get paid up front. Waited until January then booked it. Will look for a new place this year.

Re: Hershey 2019 Hotels...going, going...
This post gives me big twitch.....we no longer attend Hershey but for 12 years we
used our 20ft motor home at Hershey on the red field. At that time we were $$$$$ ahead doing so. At the room rates quoted here we'd be $$$$$$$$$$$$ ahead. Still ,it is the big show and I sure miss attending. Flat Jack, casdiesel, Redneck and Barb, Jim Kroll, Kenct, Very Tangled, JM35, the irrepressible Pat Fenner, Bryan Markell and his buddy Bill with all the cash, my long list of Canadian brothers and mates from Australia and NZ..........and so many more........ Of course Henry Horrocks, God Bless him will always be on our list. Alice and I sure miss you all ! Charlie ny |

I don't know. I've gotten a room every year for the past three years a few weeks before the show. I forgot with hotel it is, but they have a kitchenette in the room and offer a decent breakfast. We've paid $200 a night each year.

I'm lucky enough to have my son living with in a half hour drive of Hershey, PA, and happy to be invited to stay there. This gives me an opportunity to spend some quality time with him and his beautiful family.

Re: Hershey 2019 Hotels...going, going...
Why pay so much to be close ? Most vendors don't even open up until about 8-8:30 AM. I used to stay about 25 minutes away for $55.00 per night. I would get up at 6:00 AM, shower, get dressed, and go out for breakfast, and still get to the fields between 8-8:30 AM. When you leave after the show is over, take the local roads and check out the mom and pop motels.

Re: Hershey 2019 Hotels...going, going...
I agree with Nick, but there are a couple reasons to stay in town. One the money isn't worth the extra time. Two, someone that may need to go rest in the room in the middle of the day. Second is my situation. I just wanted to raise the issue if someone was unaware.
I agree it is likely easy to get a good rate a week or two out, but it is a risk.

Re: Hershey 2019 Hotels...going, going...
Folks,
This year is going to be a little different in the supply and demand routine at Hershey. This year there is a hockey or handball or something, competition at the same time and rooms will be short. We got ours in December!! If you find one by now, good luck, it'll be expensive too. See you in North Chocolate field. Milt K from Pa |

Re: Hershey 2019 Hotels...going, going...
I've had mine; one night was $179 and then two at $259, I think.
It's just about priced me out of the market to go up there. I need nothing and all I do is display certain stuff for folks to order "made to order" parts. Most of the folks that I fraternized with have either died or quit going. The generational thing is getting me here too!! Almost another "thing of the past" for me. |

Re: Hershey 2019 Hotels...going, going...
Coming from down under we booked last year sometime at Days inn Hershey,a couple of miles away. Think it was $200 a night ,but when you look at the peak period July August it can be up to $400 , talk about supply and demand, sheesh.
