I've heard so much information over the years, about different transmissions that can be used for Model A use. Why did you settle/select the year/model that you used ? I've heard to be careful to not get a transmission with wrong gear ratio, etc. So, what to look for on trans, a tag with id. ?

I installed a T5 in my 1930 Town Sedan. I wanted a low first gear for parades, and not too tall 5th gear because I didn't think my mostly stock engine could pull it. The T5 from 4 cyl. S-10 would be just about right, but I couldn't find one that I liked. So I got one from a S-10 V6, and changed my rear end to a 4:11. The result is perfect for what I wanted.

A small technical correction from a kiwi, as there's a lot of competitiveness between New Zealand and Australia, the MAC'S bell housing originates from New Zealand, a couple of smallish Islands 1000 miles from Australia.
Also, whilst running an F150 gearbox in our A with a MAC's bell housing, I kinda wish it was a T5 S10. The F150 has proven ideal for fast touring but the 3 speeds proved limiting in a hill climb event

Just a small addition to add also. I am the official Mac's Speed agent in Australia and have been selling Graeme's NZ made products here and in the USA for a number of years now. I am also a born and bred " Kiwi " been here since 1988 but home is still New Zealand. Cheers
