G six/ H six
I have a 47 tonner with the two sets of holes for front mounts and radiator. The forward ones were for the available G six. Will my H six bolt right into those front mounting holes?

Gary
The H and G engines have different front supports, 7HC6037 and 2GC 6037 for the right hand and 6038 for the LH. Appears to be close? Bruce

Re: G six/ H six
Thanks Bruce. Back in those days it seems the engineers would try to keep it universal for dealers replacing engines. But just maybe planned obsolescence was beginning to rear it's ugly head by the late 40s?

Re: G six/ H six
Do you have the H truck supports? My memory, which I don't trust in this matter, is the H six truck motors and 8BA truck motors used the same holes in the frame for front motor mounts. If you have mounts, swing that engine over the frame and take a look at where things line up.

Edit: Looks like when my six cyl engine and the T-9 are mated I will have something close to 42" between the transmission mount hole and the front engine mount hole. This corresponds to the rear hole of the two up front. That is also where the V8 mounts.. The front holes are 5" further forward. I have also found that the taller transmission from a big truck has it's holes about 2 1/2" off the machined rear face of the trans and the pickup style flat mount has them at near 1 3/4" back from the machined face. Pretty exciting stuff for a Friday night discussion on the back side of Mt. Pickett. When I went out to measure, my wife was making bird calls into the woods ... And getting replies. It doesn't take much to make a good evening in the woods.
