Default Different style of water pump

I ran across this water pump last weekend. I think that I've seen something like it discussed before but can not remember the details.
Can someone enlighten me on it?

I have one of these. Not using - although I might someday.

Available on Ebay usually for small money, although one seller has had one there for $81.95 for about 5 years. He's still there last I looked. (guess you could say he fishes on a LONG line.)

Best I can determine they were a period aftermarket replacement for the Model A pump. It has a spring mounted graphite seal, much as the later Ford V8 pumps had, plus the additional sealing of a grease pot.

I expect they were sold by J.W. Whitney, Western Auto, Pep-Boys, and possibly even Sears Roebuck back in the day.

There are a couple of versions of this one. Some have two screws holding the cover, others have four.

It makes a good wall hanger along with the three other aftermarket pumps of my collection.

My '31 Sport Coupe had one of those when I bought it in 1961. When I sold it in 1973 the pump was still on it and functioning perfectly.

I'll clean it up and paint it a more pleasing color (to me at least) and hang it on my wall of oddities.
