Default wipers

Guys,

When I turn on the (vacuum) wiper, it swings to the passenger side and stops. If I pull it back to the drivers side it'll swing back to the pass side again and stop. What do I check? Can I do it on the truck or do I need to remove it from the windshield? Thanks.

R / Roger.

Heres some good info http://modelabasics.com/wiper.htm I just got mine going today. Took it off to figure how to put on the wiper arm. Had some royal purple oil sitting there,so i squirted some in the hole worked arm back and forth full swing. Hooked up to my s10 vacuum line still didnt work so i gave it some more oil. Now it works , think i ordered the wrong wiper blade. Dont see anyway thats going to attach.

You'll need to remove it to do it right. It gets a little tricky when you remove the front cover plate, so go slowly and take photos of how its set up. The link above is very helpful. You might want to get a gasket set from one of the suppliers. Be careful too with the special screws that hold the whole thing together. I use a pair of long-nosed pliers on them, which isn't the best, and some guys make a special tool to handle them.

Work the rubber on the paddle with some light oil till it's soft, then coat the paddle and chamber with a lubricant. I use Vaseline, but I have also used Vicks Vapo-rub in an emergency, but that's another story.

I've never been successful trying to get a wiper to suck lubricant in, but that may just be me and my methods.

Make sure all your vacuum connections are tight.
