clean gas tank in car
Greetings everyone: Just wondering if any good results have come from a cleaner poured in the gas tank while in the car. What I have is a 40 yr barn stored 37 4dr I am restoring. I consider the tank to be in good shape with just enough varnish and light rust to "cloud" the gas. I can use a lawn mower tank for a fuel source while moving the car around. just hoping to save some time by not removing the tank . Some have told me to use a couple of gallons of denatured alcohol, move around, drain and repeat? thanks for your time!

Re: clean gas tank in car
Denartured alcohol is the only thing I found to desolve the varnish. I tried every type of thinner including acetone and nothing else touched it. Leave it soak a few days. The real way to clean it is to take the tank off. You can get it off in a half hour. I recently posted the removal process. G.M.
