Default Flathead fun

someone put in new pistons and did not install new rings or hone the cylinders. but they poured new babbitt and new rod bearings. this will be fun i am looking forward to it

I see you got all eights pistons out. I still have three stuck in the block I'm tearing apart. It has been wet and windy outside and that's where I work on it. It's covered with a tarp for now. It's not supposed to be raining this time of the year. My rods are number on the ends of the caps. Does that mean it's been rebuilt before, or do they come numbered from the factory ? Tim

If the bores were not honed and used rings were installed I'll bet this engine was a smoker. You are going to hone the bores and install new rings on reassembly I hope?

yes, i did not hear it run. so a hone and ring. this is at least the third time this motor has been apart, it has 1 sleeve in it and it is bored 40 over
