Default Lug nut quality

Does anyone know if the quality of the cad plated lug nuts has improved in recent years? I currently have a mismatch of peeling chrome and marginal (best of a set) cad nuts holding my wheels on. Stainless would be great but if the cad ones have gotten better saving $80 would be nice.
