Default Valve and pistion clearance

A question asked 1000 times. What is the minimum valve and piston clearance for a bone stock 41 flatheadf V8. The only "upgrade" are .100 over Egge pistons. Interesting also, all parts are marked 81A vs 11A throughout the engine.

81A sounds like correct numbers for '41. General rule is no less than .040" clearance for piston and valve.

Here's a good site to review:

I'm running 81A heads on the 8bA test engine and had to mill them 040" to get my .050.

In my opinion; .040" clearance over pistons and as much as possible over the valves as an aid in breathing, but without compromising compression!??

Thank you for the welcome. I am working on a 1941 Ford Fordor Super Deluxe. The car has had one owner (family wise) in that my Greatgrand Father bought it new in Nov 40, have the sales receipt. A Great Aunt drove it, then my Dad, a daily driver until 71. I got it about 10 years ago, but have only been working on it for about the past 2years. Making some headway. I will post pictures soon. Again thanks for the welcome.
