Years ago on a December day I fired up an old Diamond-T dumper and put it on a fast idle to warm up. Jumped back in about 10 minutes later and noticed movement and smoke coming from the leather boot around one of the the shift levers. Suddenly a wood rat head poked out of a hole in the boot and then whole rat shot out and raced around the cab trailing smoke. I threw open the door and out went the rat, minus most of his fur. At 10 below I can't imagine he survived long without his coat. Next up was putting out the fire on the manifold where he had built quite a nest.
