Brakes
I’m in the process of restoring a 56 F100, it’s 100% original with 36k miles. I’d like to keep it as close to original as possible.
I’m thinking of doing a brake upgrade, disc front and leave the rear drums and go power brakes. Any suggestions on what is the best combination? Or if the front brakes left drum with power will be sufficient. |

Re: Brakes
Well, crap. After I wrote the above, I clicked on it and found they have gone out of business and the company is for sale.
Try just masterbrake.com. That opens to another company, but I think they still would be better than opinions. Good Luck with the peekup. |

Re: Brakes
Another source is Engineered Components Inc (ECI) in Connecticut. They have all sorts of brake conversion kits, been in business a long time

I also did a set of Master Power brakes for a buddy on a 56 Nomad. They were great too, but there's a lot of GM stuff, not so easy sometimes for Ford. But either should be fine for you. |

Re: Brakes
I think if you wanted to retain original brakes you should look at the early T bird remote power brake system. Please Early T Bird people what do you think ,

Re: Brakes
The fender mounted remote power brake booster is a very simple installation.
One brake line in from the master cylinder, an output line to the main brake line connections and a large vacuum hose from the intake manifold. Finding one could be a challenge and the price may be more than you'd like. Replacing the 60 yr rubber parts or having the unit rebuilt would be a very good idea but isn't inexpensive, still worthwhile. This one failed a while back and sucked the master cylinder dry.
