Default Advice sort.

What are you thoughts on the following driveline.

274 Cube flathead, 39 box, 3.54 rear on 700.16 rear tyres

What will be characteristics from your experience, cruising highway, around town etc. Thoughts?

I hope several barners will jump in here, My drive line is close, except 3;78s rear and the tires will be 235 15 or 225 15 both shorter than your 700 16 by 2 inchs each... You should be great on the hiway, ,,around town, and hilly ?? you will be reaching for the next lower gear ?? yes JWL what car, if its a model A, peeeck up. or 34 3 window, it would be great. BUT if its a anything from 36 / to 46 fordor not good for around town ?? gears / tires too tall .IMO.. and yes Flatjack what cam ?? if its a hot cam; it would be killer ( not good ) in town, hiway good to great .... My choice is Isky 1007-B or less the lazey Loran ?? intake is Sharp w/ 2 94s ( no leakers for me ) and sharp heads. Sanderson headers / w blockmans 2" all the out back ...
And my car is a 39 fordor deluxe complete W/ Columbia...OLD...BILL
and PLEASE some barner jump in here and tell us what RPM we will truning at 60 / 70 mph.??

I have a 37 4dr with a 276 and 600x16 and a Mitchell od and I almost never have to take it out of od. My final drive is 2.8 and my opinion is you should be fine.

Bill, if you Google technosource rpm calculator you can figure any combo. I am running about 2000rpm at 60 and about 2350rpm at 70

Thanks for the replys, more appreciated, I have a Isky Max 1 cam, twin 97's, Offy 400 heads, 8BA valvetrain, 4"crank, and the plan is to fit it to a Model a Roadster on 32 rails. Pretty light car so I am hoping the 3.54 wont be too leggy with the 700-16 tyres.
