Default running a #94 on my banger

Well I finally got an intake so I'm going to put my #94 on with a header, I know some of you run downdrafts on your bangers so I was woondering how much pressure do I need in an electric fuel pump? And...where would I buy such a thing, Also where should I start on jets. My motor hasa counterbalanced crank, a B cam, a Snyders 5.5 head and a lightened flywheel. I also have an over drive.

3 Psi regulator between pump and carb. I will look to see if I still have my notes from Spence's Splinterbox. Seems the one he tried from Vintage Speed left a lot to be desired. Rod

Yes, he ran it in the GR in 2005, 2006 and 2007. He ran t a 97 on flatlands and had a 94 set back to run in the mountains if I remember right. The NOS throttle plate for the 94 he sent you was one I sent to him. It was a pleasure being part of getting it ready. Afew parts came from my shop along with getting daily updates and input questions. Going to have to dig hard for my notes. Rod

Thanks rod...do you know where I can buy a 6v elecric fuel pump? do I run the pump and then use a fuel regulator too. I may even try and trade it for a rebult Sttromberg #48

Seperate regulator. 6v pumps are not real hard to find. What is hard to find is a decdent adjustable regulator. Be sure to put an inline gauge on it that reads 1-10 lbs. If I did not need the pump I have I would send it to you. Will dig for my notes first thing in the am. Rod

Holly makes a pressure regulator that is ajustable from 1-4 psi, I think the 94 requires a maximum 3.5 psi. You can google 'Holly 94' and get the exact pressure. Also google 6volt electric fuel pump, you'll get a plethora of choices. I believe the pressure reg comes preset at 2.7 psi.

Hey Rowdy, I conversed with Spence for a while and I looked through my notes as well. This was all he relayed to me about his setup, nothing about jet sizes.... Sorry

"To the right of the speedo is a switch to determine which gas tank I’m using. The cowl tank (10 gal) is the one with the gauge to tell how much gas is there, and is the “reserve” tank while Rallying cross country. Where you have that curtain box under the ass end of your Woody, I’ve installed an auxiliary 8 gallon gas tank, and feed fuel filters to a 3-way switch into a fuel pump into a pressure regulator into my Stromberg 97 Carburator. We would typically fill the cowl tank with known GOOD gas each night if necessary, then fill the Aux tank during the 3 scheduled stops between a 7:00AM to 7:00PM rally day."

I will tell you from experience on my own car, by using a 12v pump on a 6v system and you then don't need a regulator because the pump puts out ½ the rated pressure.

I use a Carter pump and a Holly 1-4 regulator for my 97. I run 2 lbs. These pumps have a long life and work well for a Model A.I set mine on the inside of the passenger side frame, hardly shows.

I got my pump from Arizona Model A's, but NAPA sells them too. Here is the pump from MAC's. http://macsautoparts.com/model-a-for...0H5P211000016/

I could not find the e-mail I was looking for. Thinking it may have been the victom of the fatal computer crash I had in 2009. Some stuff was savable and other parts were not. I did find a pic of the setup, but not enough for any detailed info from it. Rod

I'm running a 94 on my coupe, most 94s came with a 54 jet for sea level use, I live a 4800ft and use a 52 with a 5 power valve. My engine is producing about 90 Hp and I'm getting 19 mpg on the hiway with a 3.78 rear end at 60 mph.

I've heard horror stories about those regulators, seems like they always leak. My 'period' alternative is to pressurize the tank - 1922 Cadillac fuel pump and 1918 Dodge pressure gauge...no worry about voltage or leaks, just a pump every so often. (Disclaimer: my car is a T - RPU on an A chassis and the tank is in the bed)

I also use a 12 volt pump and on 6 volts it puts out just over 3psi.
