Re: v8 trany question
If you have a "B" engine, the adapter will not fit. If the "B" engine has an "A" flywheel housing, it will fit as it will all stock A engines. You will need the E brake and brake and clutch adapters. Also will need the V8 "U" joint housing. Otherwise, this is a great set-up.

Re: v8 trany question
I would put all new bearings in the trans, and check all the gears carefully. There's a reason why that trans was sold, and it might not be just money.

Re: v8 trany question
Hey youngrodder1929, you are also going to need the cup and clam shell from a v-8 torque tube. Can be found and they are cheap. That is all you will need to do the swap.

Re: v8 trany question
I put my 39 std trans behind my model B engine using a cast iron Ford script adapter that everybody refuses that exist. I have no idea what its for, even though i have my theories, i just found it in a barn and could tell by eye what it does. The easiest way for a model B engine is probably to use a model B trans with 39 dlx and up gears and trans top.

Re: v8 trany question
I have never heard of an adapter like that either, may have come off a 39-40 pickup with the tractor engine??? The problem with using the whole B set-up is it is more complicated, engine mounts, pedal assy., etc. B float-o-motors can be used but you still have the pedal problem. I did such a swap years ago in my wide-bed and it works fine, just more trouble.

Re: v8 trany question
Jim,
Which MDG / Cluster combination do you prefer for the Model A? 1. 16 28 (with the 2.8X first and 1.60 2nd) ? or 2. 15 29 (with the 3.12 first and 1.70 2nd) ? As I remember those ratios are close but do not quote me. Thanks Quote:
