Default Headlight bar rubber gaskets

Hi Fellow Model A Drivers,

i have just replaced the rubber gaskets beneath my headlight bars because they were stretched out and looked horrible.
Unfortunately when i tightened the nuts up after fitting the new ones, they are just as stretched out as the old ones!
I guess i have over tightened them, but i presumed a structural bracket like that would have to be pretty tight??

Kindest regards

Steve

They did not originally have the rubber pads.

I recently saw and listing for two types of rubber pads. One style had the extended ridge that surroounde the light bar "pad" The second style rubber pad was "hidden'. I think it was Berts catalog. kp

No rubber! Helps with grounding!

Grounding will still be thru the bolt and lock washer. You can't ground thru two painted surfaces, fender and light bar even if there was no paint on the light bar.

I like the ones with the bead around the outer edge.

I have found that there are a couple of different 'sizes' made and sold by the vendors. I had to buy a couple of different ones to find a set that fit my light bar. I got them from Bert's (Part #A13123BL). This is for a 30/31. I believe the 28/29 are different?

The key to what your doing is the fit of the fender brkt. the fender and the headlight bar. If everything is nice and flush it won't push the gasket out.

I cut out the required shape from an old discarded pair of Kiwi (Red Band) gumboots and it worked really well. The fabric backing prevents distortion.
