Question Problem with a SignalStat turn signal switch

Greetings Everyone,

I have a turn signal question. I recently replaced what looked like a very old installation of a SignalStat turn signal kit in my 6v 1930 Model A Roadster (signals weren’t working). The replacement unit is a new A13310A/SignalStat 900 kit. The old unit had a number of extra wires coming out of it that were not connected to anything. The new one has less wires coming out, and all connected up to identified leads in the car, and now my turn signals and hazards work.

The problem is, the little indicator bulb inside the column unit in the car is always on. However, the unit needs to be connected to a constant hot for the flashers to work with the key off. I believe if I connect to a lead that’s only hot when the key is on, then the hazards will only work if the key is turned on. Is this a common issue with this, and is there a “Best Practices” solution to this, so that the SignalStat has continuous hot for the hazards, but the bulb stays off when the key is off? Many thanks for any help with this.

Eddie

Had a light issue also. Mine is hot all the time, not wired to the switch. Took the lever cover off and checked the bulb and contacts which were gummed up with grease and misaligned. Be careful as the parts may fall out. The bulb should only light when each side or the emerg. are on. You may need to reduce the pdf with your browser. Also check the ground of the switch to the steering column.
