It's still for sale, some interest but no takers yet.

Here's some more pictures.

It will make a great winter project.

A couple of changes from my first posting... there's only 3 hoods and I have a title for it, we got the parts car home and it's pretty tough.

All of those new parts have been installed, no more welding is needed except for the door skins, just put the car back together, do the minor bodywork to the quarters, prime and paint.

Very few inquires about the car, nobody wants a early Mustang Fastback?

We are still finding boxes of goodies in the house that goes with the Mustang, latest find another set of "Built" 289 Heads wrapped in oil saturated poly.

This Stang would really make a nice winter project and if you wanted you could list all the extra parts here for sale.

One of your posts asks why your car has not sold. Please take this as constructive criticism,
but what you have is a basket case. I have been in this hobby 40 plus years and basket cases usually are not worth the trouble. Unless one knows that make and model inside and out it is very difficult to determine if it is all there, much less how to put it back together. It also begs the question: "If it is going to be so cheap and easy to put back together, then why has the seller not done that themselves?" I don't want to appear mean but this appears to be the reality here. Also for $8000 with a little shopping around one can find a very nice already running early Mustang coupe.
Never the less if you can find a buyer more power to you.

I appreciate any advise.

My first Hot Rod build was in 1962, it was a 34 Ford and have done others since then. The Mustang is NOT a basket case. When my son and I started this project in 1987 he was a junior in High School and we worked on it TOGETHER. There was minor rust in the floors and other areas but we chose to "Do it Right" and replace any problem areas. It was done the right way. We had it put on a frame straightener so we would know that everything was correct and then went on and replaced panels, etc.

At the same time he wanted something to drive so we picked up a 65 coupe out a a junk yard, took the motor and tranny out of the 66, did some minor bodywork and I spot painted where needed. That car he drove for quite a while. The Fastback was pushed aside when he got an education, then he got a job that took him all over the US never in one spot for very long. So the Fastback sat. He went through some tuff times but never got rid of the Fastback. It was all ways stored in a dry place. Then he got married and lost all interest in the Fastback.

Several years ago I started building a 26 T coupe Hot Rod and my son said to me "if you wanted to build another car I'd let you have the Fastback". Well he's in need of money again so he said that the Fastback is going to be sold. I said to him that if I can sell me T coupe project I'd buy his Fastback from him. It's a great deal for $8,000.00 and that's what I'll be paying for it, but so far I haven't sold my coupe.

Mustang coupes are a dime a dozen.... try finding a Rust Free Mustang Fastback.

We found another box of Mustang parts today..... hood latch and some chrome goodies.

You still have a chance to buy this out from under me, but I've had several good conversations of guys wanting to buy my 26 T coupe (listed on Jalopy Journal). If that happens you will be out of luck because I will buy the Fastback from my son.

I sold my 26 T coupe so I bought the Fastback from my son. I got all the old pictures of the building of the car from way back in 1987, seen what great shape it was in, found more new parts that go with it, and have determined eight grand is way to low for this car so if you want to buy it from me the price is $10,000.00

I now have a good 1966 289 with a 4 speed. The motor starts and runs, doesn't smoke, it's a 4 barrel engine with a 2 barrel on it now. I bartered some of the parts and gave $800.00 for the engine, tranny and another 66 coupe parts car. Price is still Ten Grand.

More pictures of the Mustang. My son 27 years ago. He got the front end down to bare metal and then primed it. Showing his finished product of replacing Front Inner Fender Apron. After graduating from High School he went to Vocational School and took Automotive Industrial Machining, there he bored out two of the 289 blocks and built a set of 289 heads, milled and ported them. With them blocks comes two different cams and at least one set of lifters.

This Fastback would sure make someone a nice winter project.
