Default Wheel color

I'm trying to find the color straw in powder coating I have the PPG paint code IM-526 and I have had no luck so far crossing it over to power coating. On The Ford barn site all I have found was Tacoma cream and that is a totally different color. I hope someone can help me locate power coating code number. Thanks Jerry

Jerry, this has been discussed several times at length. Straw was never a color of wheels, therefore no supplier has the need to duplicate (-have manufactured) that color. Your options are to find a close color offered by a powder paint manufacturer such as Tiger Drylac, --or have your wheels sprayed in a 2k urethane.

Just curious, why are you wanting to powder paint them instead of spraying them?

I can tell you from experience that the Tiger Drylac RAL1001 number is not the same the Straw color chip in the Paint & Refinish Guide.

Tacoma Cream was an available wheel color in later years. If you check the MAFCA Paint and finish guide you will see that Tacoma Cream and Straw are very, very close. Straw was a pinstripe color.

Tiger Drylac offers color brochures and also free 3" x 6" "actual" samples of "actual" standard RAL different numbered colors on sheet metal ..... 1-800-243-8148.

Colors printed on paper or in brochures may vary, and may or may not be similar to "actual" true color samples.

Names of today's standard RAL colors can be misleading because for example, the name for the standard RAL 1001 is Beige.

Colors change drastically with different lighting such as metal haylide, incandescent, daylight and cool white fluorescent etc., and even change more in actual direct sunlight and indirect sunlight in the shade.

Colors also appear to change drastically when placed adjacent to other different colors.

Divorce is highly possible when husbands paint houses & master bedrooms in colors not approved by wives.

Humble opinion: Happy Model A wheels can occur not always with following strict Judges Standards, but more often when wives love your wheel colors.

Please let us know how that works out. The last posts here on the barn are ones where money was sent but the product never received. I would like to know if that has changed as I have stopped recommending them because of that.

I just ordered the Tacoma Creme from Modelawheelcolors.com. $128.00 for five pounds of powder. My powder coater says it takes one pound per rim. I'll know on Tuesday when my rims are finished how close it is.

I'm curious to know how close the colour of the Tacoma Creme is. I just received my order from Modelawheelcolors today but won't be using it right away.

That is great news that they are shipping product. There was a time the website seemed to take the money and do nothing. Glad the supplier is still there and in business.
