Default 1955 ford wagon hood springs part #

When I open the hood,i raise it up as high as it will go but as soon as I let it go,it drops about 5 inches. When I am working under the hood as I start to come out from under the hood,I bang my head on it and that is not very comfortable. I don't think its a matter of adjustments but rather weak hood springs, right? Does anyone here have the part # for the hinges so that I can start looking for them? Thanks for your help.

Posting a picture of your springs when the hood is open would be good for us to judge if your springs are worn out.

Thanks Guys for your help. Are the T-bird hood springs the same as the ones on my 55 ranch wagon? just wondering.

Do not think so. The T-bird has spiral wound springs instead of coil wound spring. similar to a tape measure.
