What you spraying? If its epoxy primer, get a 2mm HF hvlp throwaway gun for 20$.

I’m with tinker, I use a cheap harbor freight gun for primers. I owned a Eastwood gun and have thrown it down to a primer only
Gun. I hated it, and had a lot of peel with it.

My favorite gun for a reasonable budget to date has been a iwata LPh-400. I love the thing especially for clear. I am not a painter but my iwata sure makes me look like one.

When a gallon of PPG and harder cost 1k. Not that you won't go through $200 in decent sanding materials.

I have a Devilbiss finishline gun that I use for primer and base coats. (2 guns) and an Iwata LPH 400 for clear. For the money I think the Devilbiss gun is a great all around gun. It sprays well and is a consistent reliable gun. For the person that does not paint a lot it would be my choice.

Whatever gun you get that you plan to keep, be sure rebuild parts are available for it.

I am going to use the gun to paint some motorcycle parts. Fender and tank.

If that is all your painting, I would use a siphon gun, and stay away from HVLP. A novice painter, in my opinion, can get better results with siphon gun.

Every gun is differant in a way there like a hammer you can use yours perfectly but pickup someone elses and here comes a busted thumb. Quality and parts avalability are critical as they all require a little love now and again but after that its up to you, as an aprentice the boss picked up a crappy gun filled it with water and told me to go paint the back fence object learn how to use that gun before putting paint through it If it works for you theres nothing wrong with it

This is a good recommendation. I have a two-gun Devilbiss Finishline HVLP setup - a regular big-gun and a smaller touch-up gun. I also have top of the line digital HVLP SATA stuff.

Truth be told, I use the Finishline stuff all the time - especially the touch-up gun . . . as it tends to waste a lot less paint and sprays well. I've painted some larger primer, base and clear coat jobs with the big gun and it does extremely well. For the price, I would highly recommend the Finishline setup - and do get the touch-up gun, you'll use it the most!

Also, given the prices of all our two-part paints these days, you'll find you'll save a LOT of material with a HVLP gun - especially the touch-up version. I have all my ole' reliable Binks #7 with Sharpe pot siphon and pressure-pot guns . . . just can't get rid of them (they're like old friends), but I really don't use them anymore -- primarily due to the amount of material they waste.
