Default 18 tooth speedometer gear

I'm having trouble finding a 18 tooth speedometer gear for my 40 Ford 3.54 rear. Can anyone tell me if a model "A" gear will fit in the 40 Ford clam shell? I have an add in the early V8 wanted section with out much luck. Any help will be appreciated.

I remember seeing one somewhere. Not sure if it was in my parts pile or someone elses. Will look later this week. After seeing it in the wanted section I looked in my NOS stuff here at the house and only found 2 19 tooth gears, that I will need for my Model A. Still alot of stuff to look through though. Rod

Hi John, For some reason I thought you were installing a 3:25 rear. Please take plenty of photos of how you change out the 3:78's. Also John, while you've got the rear end out think about making something to prevent the rear gear oil from running forward into the torque tube - like this:
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...+rear+end+seal You can also buy the following from a fellow in TX.
Bruce's Rod Shop in Spring, Texas makes a driveshaft/torque tube seal that bolts between the banjo and torque tube flange. I've had one in my roadster for four years and sealed up great. Last price was $100.00, great part. Check at brucesrodshop.com
It is shown in message 33 here:

YES, 19 tooth gear will fit all later clamshells fine.
