1941 Car clutch pedal linkage question.
I am installing my clutch pedal linkage on my 1941 Ford car and I can't get the threaded rod to line up with the bracket on the pedal with out it hitting the pedal arm.
I consulted my green book and the diagram for 1940-48 passenger car shows the bracket on the pedal that the threaded rod goes to on the trans side of the pedal arm. Mine is on the outboard side of the pedal arm which according to the green book is a truck set up. These are the pedals that I removed from the frame and they were hooked up and working. Brake pedal is hooked up to the MC and that fits fine. Any help or pics of the 41 car clutch pedal linkage setup would be great help. Thanks in advance as always. Torchie. |

My guess is that you changed the pressure plate.
If the rod is to long its needs to be shorter. May have to cut 3/8" off . |

Didn't mess with it today as my back is out. Hopefully back at it tomorrow. Most likely something really obvious that I am just missing. Torchie. |

Might start by looking everything over closely and see if there is any way something was put back incorrectly.

I got the threaded shaft loosened up last night and will reinstall it and the cross shaft today and see if the threaded shaft just needed to be shortened. From what I have seen it looks like the threaded shaft goes on the trans side of the pedal arm so when the pedal is depressed it travels away from the shaft. Torchie |

The throw-out bearing may not be close enough to pressure plate.
If you back off you mite be able to drop pin in. |

Re: 1941 Car clutch pedal linkage question.
Got the linkage hooked up. I threaded in the rod and it now clears the pedal arm.
Will have to do some more adjustments but things are looking up. Thanks as always. Torchie. |
