Yes, it's a shame. Paradise is like a lot of small rural towns in foothills of the Sierras. A lot of older retired people who move there to get away from the crazy urban centers.

California and this corner of Australia are the two most fire prone places on earth. We've seen similar destruction after fires here. For example, on the 7th of Feb, 2009, fires here burnt 1.1 MILLION acres , killed 173 people in this state alone and destroyed 2,100 homes. Your population being 15 or 16 times ours, that would be like you guys losing 2,700 people and about 33,000 houses. Bad and all as those fires are, they could be worse. That doesn't mean I don't care about those affected, I do. The point is, I can understand the impact (I think anyone form this corner of the world can).
I wish all those affected well.

As a born and breed Califorina boy I know there is a lot that needs to be burnt to the ground in that crazy State...this is NOT one of them.
Been to Paradise many, many times, good people...Hope and prayers for you all.

Condolences to Dick Steinkamp as I understand his Studebaker was one of several stablemates in the Gary Cerveny collection that went to the ground during the fire.
