Default Filling Pits in Rims before Powdercoating

Has anyone filled in pits in their rims before powdercoating? There are products mentioned that say they have conductivity, even JB weld. My wheels are blasted, and some of the pits especially where the tube will be in contact are deep enough that I doubt the paint will fill them. I will use a liner, but it is only 1 1/2 inch wide.

I'm exploring solutions for the same issue.

Take a look at PC-11 (Amazon) and tell us what you think. I have contacted them and they tell me that PC-11 would work very well filling rims after blasting.

I didn't ask them about powder coating after application. Have you received a quote? Got lotsa money?

Larry

Is the pitting on the inside a problem? As long as its smooth along with a rim liner i think the tubes will be fine. If you use a filler that dislodges itself that may affect the tubes.

Use any type of filler (JB Weld, Bondo, Icing, etc.) on the pits after they have been powder painted. Just scuff the powder paint with a Scotchbrite prior to smearing the pits full. Then apply the rubber liner afterwards.

I used a model T liner in the really bad rim I have for my spare, it's 4-5" wide flap of heavy rubber

Looking for the front bumper emblem that has "Ford, Made In Canada"

Duct tape is a poor excuse for a liner. Spend the couple extra dollars. Wayne

Would not there be a chance of causing the wheel to go out of balance if the filler was not put on uniformly around the entire wheel? If more got on one spot that another, would not this cause a problem?
