Motor with no serial number
I take it this is a b motor. 5-24-48 stamped on head 4 bolt water pump, oil pan looks like an A pan doesn't look modified. Looks like an I stamped on the timing cover

Re: Motor with no serial number
Yes it has the fuel pump opening covered up so it was used in an A or commercial setting for something that didn't need a fuel pump. So at least a 32 or later, the head could be from a variety of places I guess.

Re: Motor with no serial number
Looks like a 'B' motor, as it has the Fuel Pump casting in the block. The head could be a replacement and dated when it was made. The oil filler tube looks like Model A, as does the Oil Pan.

Re: Motor with no serial number
The pan has the dimples to clear the B rod nuts.
The B engine number was stamped on the top of the flywheel housing. Bob |

Re: Motor with no serial number
I thought possibly a diamond B but that is the worst looking diamond I have ever seen and see no date cast near the fuel pump boss, so not a diamond block. Your pan is also a B, with the rear part cut off, necessary when using an A bell housing.

Re: Motor with no serial number
Be interesting to know if this a counterweight crank engine. Also the pattern of that combustion chamber.
With the oil pump cover off, you might look in and get a peek at that crank. Joe K

Re: Motor with no serial number
The motors in my Coupe and Victoria are aftermarket Model "B," but it is unknown when my engines were cast, and by whom.

Re: Motor with no serial number
Bob, If yours are diamond blocks, there is a date-code in front of and above the fuel pump boss, sometimes hard to decipher.
