Default 6 volt fuel pump?

what electric fuel pump will work best on my 1953 Mercury stock engine? I looked on Summit Racing and Airtex e8902 looked good, but was not for my car

I don't know why the Airtex E8902 wouldn't work on your car. Works fine on my 8BA.

This 6 volt Airtex E8902 has been in my stock 53' Merc for 7 years now and has performed flawlessly. I turn it on for a few seconds befor starting the car, after it has sat for an extended period of time. I also turn it on when the car vapor locks, after sitting on a hot day or while driving, and it clears the system immediately.

Now I look like a hoarder, I still have the box it came it.

That's what I bought to use on my '35 fordor sedan in 2013 before doing a cross country trip. I carried it as a backup to my mechanical pump, but never needed to use it. It's still in with the other spare parts I carry :-)

I have had a six volt Airtex pump on my '47 for over 20 years with no problems. I got mine from C&G. They used to come with a filter included, but is now must be bought as an add-on. If you have an inline filter between the tank and the pump, you probably don't need the accessory. I use mine to refill the carb after the car has sat for along time. In the hottest part of the year, it can come in handy if the system blows a bubble on a hard pull.

Thanks to all for the information. when I went to the Summit Racing site and brought up the e8902 it said up in the left hand corner not for the 53 merc. That's why I asked. It had every thing I was looking for 6volt and low psi. Thanks again.

I have a carter pump on my 52 but it's mounted like MercCruiser has his. Yes, it will fit your car.
