Pictures of the hood alignment and door alignment on both sides would help to know where to shim.

Make sure the door front inner edge is parallel with cowl post at A pillar jamb.

You do not have an outside gap to judge by on a roadster re bent or worn hinges.

My 28 has a bad twist in the frame, one side needed shimsthe other sie did not. Measured it to be about a 3 inch twist.

Are you working with timber stringers and subframe ?

Just picked up the KIwi tag when you mentioned petrol tank..I know all of our CCPU/s came from USA/Canada, with steel subframes but do not know about roadster pickups.
