Dale,
Thanks! Those 32 headlights are working great!
Went to look at another Ford truck a late 70's F250 today. Then came home and took the 32 on a 8 mile trip. All systems worked well. Just a awesome December evening!
Regards,
Chris

Folks,
I owe you some pictures! I am setting in the shop loft . Warm and cozy, about done for the night. Great weather here. Took the truck for a long ride this afternoon. Called my machine shop to try to get him going on the pressure test if engine block #1.
Talked to the PO and he is going to come after Christmas to take the 32 for a ride. Pretty neat!
I was out looking at other old Ford trucks yesterday. 1978 Ford F250. Pretty good truck for being in our area all its life.
Regards,
Chris

I think with old car guys it means 'previous owner'. That doesn't guarantee the PO doesn't have a PO....

Folks,
Yes PO =previous owner. Sorry I should not use those acronyms. Larry H. Had bought the truck from his uncle in about 1972 and stored it for 50 years. He had done nothing with the truck. But having it in the garage with you for that long it became part of the family. He was very pleased when he came to my place for the first start up and drives. It is running better, so need to get him behind the wheel again! Looking forward to that visit.
Speaking of rides I need to get my wife in the 32 and go for a ride. She should appreciate here 16 Edge!
Regards,
Chris

Mark, Folks,
I did crank up the ragged ol' truck and haul my self into town yesterday. Sometimes you just need a truck to haul stuff!

Thanks for the continued support on my 32 big truck project. without you guys I would not have gotten this far!
Off to see the wizard! Hope things are great in Ford land!
Regards,
Chris

51504bat,
That would be a good project! I do have a Allis grill in my sugarhouse that was from my Dad's tractor.

Chris

Alan, corvette, folks,
The box has some age that makes it kind of fit in with the work box look. I may have to move it as I want to get some milk cans in that corner of the bed. As that is what mr. Litwiller had in there for water.
The truck is called a "ton and a half" not sure what that means for sure? I guess I figured a ton and a half of dirt, gravel, or stone??
Regards,
Chris

Folks,
Well I took a chance and changed the oil in the leaky B engine to a high zinc 50 wt oil to see if it would in any way slow down the leakage. It didnt! I had kept my expectations low that this thicker oil might magically help.
Ok So what I need to get is information that shows me or tells me about the thrust clearances and what someone would do to correct that in a babbited engine? I am pretty sure I am not the first one this has happened to.
Is it the rear cap that needs fixed or the crank or both??
Not saying I will take this engine apart to do that, but if it wasnt for this oil leak I would be about done with this truck project. Right now its bothering me a lot! About ready to pull the engine, and get it upside down and tear it apart!
Any detailed information about the problem or the potential fix would be good discussion for me to ponder. Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Chris

but if it wasnt for this oil leak I would be about done with this truck project.
It still needs mud flaps.

Snyders has rear main thrust washers for use with insert bearings but guys
have used them to repair babbitted bearings with worn or broken thrusts.
https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/s...searcht=B-6332
I think the thrust should be around .003-.004.

Bob C,
Now that may be exactly what I was looking for!
I will do some checking with Snyders on these thrust washers. Do you have any information on what needs to be machined/ repaired?
Thanks for the numbers on the clearance. I may get ambitious and pull the engine. and see if I could get this improved.
Ok the truck will never be done, done. But it has met most of my goals.
The previous owner and his son are coming over to take a look and a ride in it in the next few days.
Regards,
Chris

Folks as mentioned,
Larry H and his son Evan stopped in this afternoon and took the 32 for a couple drives around the block. I think they had fun!

Both father and son were comfortable driving the Ford and this was Evans first time seeing it move. (Sure has that ragged ol' truck look in this full sun shot!)

Was great to visit with them and see the smiles! They have some old pictures that they are going to get for me too.

They took a couple 6 mile rides:

Here is a shot of me the other day As I took friend Matt H for a spin too:

Hope things are good out there in Ford land! Merry Christmas to All Ford Barn'ers and families!
Regards,
Chris

Merry Christmas to you and your family Chris. It is good to see you sharing that old truck with folks. Part of this hobby is the simple enjoyment of seeing other people smile and reminisce about these old jalopies. The sight, the smells and the sounds they make. It is our living history.

Ai, Folks,
Yes it is one of my goals to get these time machines out for folks to view and enjoy!
Larry said "that is a REAL truck" when he got out after a drive!
Great grandson Rhett wants to get the 32 out to wait for the bus.
Regards,
Chris
