Smile Dyna-matic Fan

Has anyone used the Ford Dyna-matic fan that was offered as an accessory item for the '46-'48 Ford? Did it help in cooling the flathead?

They were available as an accessory but they were not really to help with the cooling. They were designed to freewheel at hiway speeds when the temp was below a specified temp and in traffic they would lockup again via a magnetic clutch working off a temp sensor.
