Fuel pump

Trying to install a fuel pump on my 49-53 flathead for my 47 Ford. Not sure I have all the parts required. Looks a little different than the fuel pump setup I pulled from my 47. The 47 had a fuel pump rod alignment shaft cover and an oil deflector cup on the fuel rod. I ordered a fuel pump rod for the 49-53. Anyone know if I'm missing something other than flathead experience ?

What you have is correct. All you need are the gaskets. If I am wrong, I am sure others will chime in.

It may depend on which intake manifold you are using. The parts shown in picture #2 would be correct for installing most 8ba engines in a '47 vehicle.

Offenhouser makes intake manifolds for early 21 stud, 24 stud, 59 series, and 8ba style engines. Depending on which of these three or four style intakes you actually have will depend on which fuel pump stand and fuel pump you would use. More info and/or pictures of what you are doing helps us when trying to answer questions.

Also the '49 up pushrods are larger diameter as well as longer than the pre-49 setup shown in first picture. Use of the early setup shown on a '49 up engine with that manifold would require correcting diameter by pushing '48 pushrod bushing into the '49 bushing and using the longer of the 2 common '35-48 pushrods. Next problem is the clocking of the pump and its glass bowl...'49 manifold flange is I believe clocked differently than early, AND the pump will be sitting way lower than the '49 setup...don't know if it will clear.
Punt on the early setup and use '49 stand and pump...too many things to worry about here.

Didn't plan on trying to use the earlier fuel pump setup on the 8ba. I was just comparing the two ( 1947 model and the 8ba) and trying to make sure I had all the correct parts for the job. I have the correct fuel pump rod and fuel pump for the 8ba. Just wanted to make sure there was no missing parts.

You may want to measure the "lift" of the push rod to make sure it's the same as the stock 8BA when using the stock 8BA intake. Do this with the OEM intake first and then compare it to what you get with the OFFY intake.

If the fuel pump stand mounting area on your Offy intake is identical in location and configuration as compared to your original 8ba intake, you should be good to go when installing the 8ba parts shown in your pic #2.

The 8BA pushrod is longer and fatter than the pre 48 stuff. This needs to be addressed.

I have the correct 8BA push rod. Wanted to make sure no other parts were missing. I will check the the distance from the stock intake versus the Offy intake to make sure the push rod is the correct length.
