Default Lester VS Firestone update with pictures

I got the Lester 550X19s on the car and took it for a ride yesterday. The difference is unbelievable. I am sure its not because they are lesters but because they are new, the old ones were from 1971 and it felt like the steering column was made of rubber when going town straight roads it would be all over the place. It really drives nice now and I like the way tires look, a little oversized but not too much, IMO.

Nice looking coupe. The best colors are still the way they came off the line, and no whitewalls.

Very nice looking Coupe, did you change the tires yourself or have them done on a machine, what about balancing, again, very nice car!

Could be this is what I need to do ,my coupe 31 ,pictured in Avitar, when I hit a bump or raised portion in the road, goes all over the road ,have to really be aware else it will as they say "bump steer" somthin awful .Thought about goin to 16 inch tires ,maybe the wider Lester 550 X19s would remedy this .Glad you put this post on.

I had an old set of 4.75 x 19 Garfield tires on my 30'. I traded out for a newer set of Firestone tires. While the handling was not much different, the Firestones have a knobby feel through the steering wheel and considerable more road noise.

Would you mind sharing with us how much each tire was?

I was going to mount the tires myself, as I have done with model T"s. Model T's tires are almost like bicycle tires compared to these and are much easier to mount. So, I took them to a local shop were they removed the old tires saved my year old tubes, mounted all 5 new tires and balanced them for $125. The tires are $164 each plus shipping so it came to $860 plus the $125 for a grand total of $985. It’s a lot of money but the difference in drivability is unbelievable. It was a bit nerve wracking when another car was coming at you on a narrow country road, hoping I was not going to jump over to his side. The tires have completely eliminated that, I really enjoy driving the car now so to me it’s worth it. I have talked to others who have spent the money for this size tire and they all liked them, more expensive than the 4.75 but they are great and I think they look good.

Have a question about 21 in tires if someone can help. I looked on the Leser site and they have 440/450-21 and a 525/550-21. Will the wider 21 inch tire work on the 21 inch rim?
