Default 37 Tudor rear window seal help..

Okay. I bought a couple of rear window seals off ebay. They were new in the package. Turns out they are Vintigue. Now I have tried them on both the new glass I have, and just in the frame. The rubbers seem to be to big.. Is there a trick to putting them in, or do I have to cut them to install them?? Thanks

When I did mine it's a two man job. Rubber on glass, rope in slot, lots of soapy water, goes in from inside pushing against body while pulling the rope and pulling the lip of seal over body flange. I was able to get one in by myself because you can reach through and push the glass against body while pulling the lip of seal over flange with the rope. Then it becomes a two man job installing the remaining glass. The rubber fit was fairly loose on the glass. You can see in picture one glass in waitng for my helper. Zeke

I understand that part. I went to body school 40 some odd years ago. Still though even putting the rubber on the glass it leaves that large gap. It does the same when I put the rubber on the lip of the rear window opening. one guy an another site said to cut it, and form it to the glass before I install it. Oh, and mini blind cord works great along with a dull plastic butter knife works well to install new glass.

Could it be that the wrong seals were put in the wrong package??

Mine were big too.
I CAREFULLY cut them to size.
Put the seam at the bottom of the glass and used black silicone to seal the seam.
I know it is slightly half ass but it worked for me.

I fitted a pair of rear window rubbers from Bob Drakes in my 40 coupe this morning. Not sure if these are the same as a 37 but they fitted the glass like a glove and went straight in although as you would expect, it was a two man job to do it.
The Drake rubbers came with a glass pattern in the package to make sure your glass is the correct size to fit the hole. Mine were the old glass that came out of the car and they matched the pattern exactly

I had all of my glass cut by Sanders Glass. They have all of the patterns. I put the glass up to the opening, and it should fit near perfect. I have a email out to Vintique for help as well.

I have emails out in different places. I would rather have them fit the first time than have to cut them to fit.

Mine were packaged wrong and fit about like your picture shows. Returned them and received the right ones that fit tight against the glass. Still a bitch to install!

Either that or sell them, and buy some Steele Rubber ones. My Brother builds cars, and says they cost a little more.but they always fit right the first time. Just waiting for a reply from Vintique. I don't trust myself cutting them.
