Default engine pan drumming

Hi All,

So, I installed engine pans in the car-with some modifications to the Chinese_____________ parts. Anyhow took her out for a drive yesterday and they seem to keep the cab cooler-yeah!!!!!! However, there is a deep drumming/vibration coming from them and I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them? I was thinking of adding some stick on wheel weights to stop the vibration. Sound like a good idea?

A thick rubber or cork pad glued to the pans might work? I would install something on the outside of your pans, black paint could hide them.

I had this happen with mine, or something similar, made a terrible shrieking sound. Nearby friend Tom Endy looked at it, and we discovered that a couple of the mounting tabs for the pan had sheared off, and the buzz was caused by the high speed vibration going on. We made some new ones out of scrap sheet metal and problem was solved.

Float a motors made mine have strange sounds. I took them off until I went back to original mounts.

I have been running original plans for years and have experienced no problems with noise. Original engine pans are quite different in how they are made compared to the repo.

I often wonder why, when someone reproduces a part, they don't do it right.

When parts are ordered to be made offshore, they quite often have no idea what they are or for. This problem had worsened a time passes. Sometimes worn parts are sent as examples, but can result in new parts out of shape, too. We have sorted thru lots of these lately, particularly ignition pieces, to find useable ones.
